Project Details
This award-winning renovation in the Milton-Ulladulla region on the South Coast of New South Wales was inspired by the visions of Rick Leplastrier and Eva Hejgaard-brooks and the warmth and inspiration of the owners, Elisabeth and Michael. The unique seaside cottage was fully revamped, while still retaining its soul and essence.
Surrounded by nature, the timber masterpiece captures the history of the owners, reusing 30-year-old Vanuatu packing crates and combining Australia's beautiful array of hardwoods throughout the roof structure and verandas. The cedar and birch windows seemingly disappear, allowing the building to be open to the elements and cedar screens to diffuse the sunlight entering from all angles.
Our team went to great lengths to reach their aspirations, even wearing gloves to handle the timbers so as not to leave fingerprints. This commitment to detail was rewarded with the 'MBA Timber Craftsmanship' Award for that year and the Overall Winner for its category as a contract build.
